We depart San Antonio on an evening transatlantic flight, touching down at Zurich Airport (ZRH) the following morning. Bypassing airport taxis, we step straight downstairs into the SBB Swiss rail terminal and board the scenic train south into Canton Valais—the sunniest alpine valley in Switzerland, perched right at the gateway to the Italian border.

We board the morning Swiss EuroCity express from Brig, slicing through the Simplon Tunnel directly into Northern Italy. Gliding past Lake Maggiore, we arrive at Milan Centrale and transfer directly onto the Frecciarossa 1000—Italy's premier high-speed bullet train traveling at 186 mph (300 km/h). By mid-afternoon, we pull directly into Roma Termini in the heart of Rome, having bypassed airport luggage checks and tarmac lines.

After three days in Rome, we head to Fiumicino Airport (FCO) and board a short direct flight over the Mediterranean. In just over two hours, the deep blue waters and whitewashed architecture of Greece appear beneath our wings. We drop our bags and head straight for a sunset taverna by the sea.
You've already explored Santorini—so this time we want a Greek island with its own unique identity, world-class coastlines, and seamless flight/ferry logistics back to Athens. (Vote for 1, 2, or all 3 islands you'd love to explore).
On Day 10, we make our quick 45-minute hop back to Athens. Staging our final night in Athens provides complete peace of mind, eliminating any possibility of travel delays affecting our long-haul international flight home.
During the cooler golden hour, we ascend the marble steps of the Acropolis to stand beneath the Parthenon as the Mediterranean sun sets over the Aegean. We conclude our journey with a rooftop celebration dinner in the historic Plaka with panoramic views of the illuminated temples.
